This is also true in the instance of Mickey the cougar. Mickey had spent years in a nightmare backyard zoo in Alabama that was not licensed – its USDA license had been withdrawn in 2006.

It was revealed that the woman in charge of the zoo, which also served as the local dog pound, fed tame canines to her exotic cats.

Big Cat Rescue was motivated to save as many cats as possible from this horrific environment.

Mickey was ultimately handed to the Tampa-based rescue group after Big Cat Rescue spoke with the owner of the caged wild cats.

When Mickey was ultimately rescued, he was famished, his teeth were decaying.

Moreover, and his legs were so weak from what doctors thought were ruptured ACLs that he could scarcely stand.

Further exams revealed that Mickey’s knees had been devastated, with no ligaments or cartilage remaining.

Mickey’s procedures were custom-designed by veterinarians to give him the best chance for a happy life.

The physicians utilized artificial ligaments to stabilize Mickey’s knee and physical therapy to help him learn to walk again.
