Females and juvenile males look similar, with an olive-green body and a yellow belly.

These birds are unique to Costa Rica and western Panama, where they breed.

They may be found in semi-open damp wooded regions, tall capacity needs, as well as shaded plantations and greenhouses.

They forage on fruit on the trees and also eat other animals.

During the mating season, the female lays 2 brown-speckled gray embryos in a hollow cup nest in a horizontal tree fork 0.5-2.5 m high.

The female is also in charge of nest-building, egg incubation for 18-21 days, and caring for the young, as manakins do not produce stable couples.

That bird has a relatively small range but is rather abundant.

The population is assumed to be slowly declining as a result of habitat damage.
