Strategically placed splashes of iridescent turquoise is finished off in style by an equally iridescent- long and racket like tail

A bird with a lovely long tail that is highlighted by deliberately placed splashes of aquamarine.

The turquoise brown motmot (Eumomota superciliosa), commonly known as Torogoz, is a brightly colored, medium-sized bird in the Momotidae family.

This bird is 34 cm (13 in) in length and weighs 65 g. (2.3 oz).

Its body is primarily brown or black, with a reddish back and chest.

There is a brilliant blue band over the eye and a black patch with a blue border on the neck.

Blue is the color of the flying feathers and the upper side of the tail.

The tail feather tips resemble rackets, and the exposed feather filaments are bigger than that of other motmots.

Although it is commonly assumed that motmots pluck the barbs from their tails in order to achieve the racketed shape, this is not the case.

Because of friction with backsplashes and routine preening, the barbs are poorly bonded and come off.

Both sexes appear to be the same, with the same elegantly plumed, long racket-tipped tail.

This bird lives in and is native to Central America.

Turquoise brow motmots prefer open environments such as forest edges, gallery forests, and scrublands.

Turquoise brow motmots are far more visible than other motmots, frequently perching in the open on wires and fences.

It searches for prey, like as insects and tiny reptiles, from these perches.
