Scooter’s anxious tiny face and pointed ears, standing up straight at attention, were the only things sticking out of the little bundle he’d created for himself.

There are a lot of dogs at shelters who are looking for their forever home.

It may be a lonely place, and without family to provide consolation, they must find their own.

One snapshot depicted the agonizing process that one shelter dog went through every night.

An image that captured hearts all over the internet and ultimately to his happy ending.

He was abruptly yanked from his old, familiar existence and placed in a shelter.

Worse, Scooter was 12 years old and had a hip injury: elderly canines and dogs with impairments are more difficult to find homes for.

Workers feared Scooter would be confined to the shelter for the remainder of his life.

But things changed when the shelter tweeted a photo of Scooter under his blue blanket.

People from all around the world began writing to the shelter, asking to adopt the sad pooch.

Jessica Lynn Howard, who had previously adopted two Chihuahuas from the shelter, was one of those persons.

Howard jumped in his car first thing the next morning and traveled three hours to the shelter to pick up Scooter and bring him home.
