The pink-headed warbler (Cardellina versicolor) is a tiny passerine bird that lives in Guatemala’s southwestern highlands.

The mature bird is dark red on top, silvery-pink on the chest, and pinkish-red on the belly.

With a crimson forehead and dark lores, the head is silvery pink.

The irises of the eyes are brown, the bill is black, and the legs are flesh-colored.

Males and females have extremely similar appearances, with the female being somewhat duller overall.

The underparts of juveniles are paler than those of adults.

These birds may be found in Guatemala’s southwestern highlands.

As well as the central and southeastern highlands of Mexico’s Chiapas state.

Pink-headed warblers are usually found in humid and semi-humid pine-oak.

And evergreen forests at elevations ranging from 5,900 to 11,500 feet above sea level.

They love deep, undisturbed vegetation in the forest.

The Pink-headed Warbler is an insectivorous bird that forages in plants for insects and other invertebrates.

Also, hunting for them on the wing at times.

During the mating season, the female constructs a globular nest of pine needles on the ground.

Frequently on a bank with a thick coating of pine needles.

She then lines the nest with moss and fills it with soft material before laying a clutch of 2-4 eggs.

She incubates them for 16 days before they hatch.

They then stay in the nest for around 10-12 days until they are completely fledged.
