The poor child was rescued and brought to the Christchurch Bull Breed Rescue, but this just exacerbated the fearful dog.

She was incredibly shut off and would spend the majority of her time shaking in a kennel corner.

Abby, a shelter worker, attempted for hours to win Nala’s confidence, but the dog would only snarl at her and warn her to back off.

The woman sat on the floor, pleading with the despondent dog to give her a chance, but Nala refused to make eye contact with her.

Abby eventually hauled out her “secret weapon,” her 7-year-old son Zach, after two days of battle!

A melancholy Nala jerked her head up in an instant when Zach stepped into the shelter.

She let go of all inhibitions as she ran to the kennel door with a wagging tail to meet the young boy, and eventually allowed Abby to pet her as well!

Zach has been a crucial part of Nala’s recuperation since that day.

It was revealed that the dog was suffering from severe separation anxiety as a result of being abandoned by her prior household.

But, with Zach’s dedicated assistance, she was able to overcome her trauma and rediscover her capacity to love!

Nala is doing well in her new home and has developed into an outgoing and sociable dog.
