We have a very identical genetic code with gorillas, which translates into eerily similar behavior.

Gorillas, for example, are exceptionally adept at founding families and maintaining long-term connections.

It’s in their nature to form bonds with individuals who are important in their life.

Furthermore, gorillas from the same family are bonded for life.

Another element that connects us is the parental instincts of female gorillas.

These maternal instincts kicked in for Koko, the gorilla in the photo below, after she received a litter of kittens for her birthday.

Koko has since welcomed two of the kittens into her family, and the end result will melt your heart.

Moreover, Koko is a great ape that presently resides at The Gorilla Foundation.

A non-profit organization whose stated aim is “to learn about gorillas through speaking with them, and to utilize that information to enhance great ape conservation, education, care, and empathy.”

Check out the beautiful pics there – to observe Koko engage with the two kittens and demonstrate an appealing amount of empathy.
