Elizabeth Taylor lived her life as one of the most well-known and gifted actors of her period.

Behind the scenes, however, she lived her personal life as if she were in a romantic sitcom.

The actress had seven spouses and eight marriages, including two to her fifth husband, Richard Burton.

Taylor, who often portrayed herself as a romantic, enjoyed the opportunity to become someone she is not in order to make her various marriages happy.

The actress also stated that she believes women dress for men and that she dresses in the intention of pleasing males.

Her efforts, however, did not appear to be effective because she divorced all of her husbands save one, Mike Todd.

On February 2, 1957, the couple married in a small tropical town near a Mexican resort.

Taylor’s parents, as well as a few relatives and close friends, attended the event.

The best men for the wedding were Mexican comedian Mario Moreno and singer Eddie Fisher.

The basic ceremony, which is required to make a wedding legitimate in Mexico.

It was held in an isolated soldier-guarded mansion by Acapulco’s new mayor, Mario Lopotequi.

Following an extravagant cocktail reception and buffet supper, the newlyweds traveled for their honeymoon in an unknown location in Mexico.

The couple would marry for the third time at the wedding ceremony.

Taylor had recently divorced actor Michael Wilding, while Todd had recently divorced Joan Blundell.

Taylor donned a mauve-colored Helen Rose original bridal gown.

And brought bouquets of white and butterfly orchids and lily of the valleys to the celebration.

Because no rabbi was available, the couple had to cancel the Jewish ceremony that was supposed to follow the civil service.
