Deaf man adopts deaf poor and rescued puppy and teaches him sign language – he is so happy

Water, it is said, always finds its own level. And that is completely applicable in this scenario.

Nick Abbott, a 31-year-old deaf guy from Maine, discovers his best buddy in Emerson, a cute little dog who is also deaf.

They are now an inseparable couple. Nick was surfing through Facebook when he came across a post about Emerson, a 12-week-old dog who had lost his hearing.

“I responded, Oh, he’s deaf too, the man explained to the channel”.

“Perhaps I should go check him out and see what he’s all about.” Emerson, a black lab, was rescued by a Florida-based shelter when he was just six weeks old.

He was then relocated to Maine’s North Florida Rescue. The puppy had convulsions and was taken to the hospital.

“When we got him home from the vet’s office in Florida, we discovered he had hearing problems,” says the owner.

“He doesn’t seem to mind at all, despite being a regular puppy.”

So Nick soon inquired about the dog, and they scheduled a meeting.

“He came directly to me at the entrance, sat down at my feet, and stayed there,” Nick explained.

“As you can see, he kind of chose me. And I knew right then and there that we’d get along well and understand one other.”

Nick is now training his new best buddy how to respond to visual commands, which are comparable to sign language.
