The head of this species is a metallic green, and the upper back has a similar hue.

Furthermore, the breast and belly are golden yellow, while the wings, back, and neck are violet-blue.

The bill and legs are also black, and the tail is rounded off well with long tail feathers.

Thus, the female and male seem extremely similar, with youngsters looking a touch duller.

This bird’s range extends from Somalia through Ethiopia, then into Kenya and Tanzania.

The golden-breasted starling favors dry, arid habitats, mostly scrublands and savannas, but also grasslands to a lesser extent.

They eat insects, which they catch on the wing or by excavating out termite mounds.
