A small coyote pup was discovered a few days ago in Revere, Massachusetts.

The tiny creature’s fate seemed sealed, scared and alone.

However, thanks to this kind cop, it has a new lease on life.

Following a report of a “wounded dog in the road,” trooper Carlo Mastromattei was dispatched to investigate.

Instead, he discovered a “frightened, solitary coyote pup,” according to the Washington Post.

When the cop realized what was going on, he called Lisa Cutting, owner of Ocean View Kennels, for assistance with the poor animal.

The cop’s actions, however, continued. “I’ll put on my gloves.” Lisa told CBS Boston, “I grabbed a towel and a quarantine cage, picked him up, and brought him to safety.”

Because the incident occurred late at night, all nearby wildlife facilities were closed.

Carlo Mastromattei decided to go above and beyond his Call of Duty to assist his new little friend, according to the Dodo.

And he did just that. He took the little coyote into his home and cared for him. He even assigned him a name.

What a better name than Carlo would have been for the little guy.

The cop took the puppy to Tufts Wildlife Clinic the next morning for further investigation.

Fortunately, he turned out to be in excellent health. There is no doubt that the kind trooper deserves credit for this as well.
