Brave man sheltered and gave hand the rescued puppy and teaches him sign language

Water, it is said, always finds its own level. And in this situation, it’s a perfect fit.

Nick Abbott, a 31-year-old Maine man who was born deaf, finds his best friend in Emerson, a cute little puppy who is also deaf.

The two have become an inseparable duo. Nick was going through his Facebook news page when he came across a post about Emerson, a 12-week-old puppy who had lost his hearing.

Emerson, a 6-week-old black lab, was rescued by a Florida shelter when he was just 6-weeks-old. Later, he was assigned to the North Florida Rescue of Maine.

The puppy had seizures and had to be admitted to the hospital. He became infected while he was there.

Lindsay Powers of NFR, Maine, said that once he was recovered, he was put up for adoption.

“We discovered he had hearing impairments once we got him home from the vet’s office in Florida,” Powers said on “Good Morning America.”

Even though he’s a regular puppy, he doesn’t seem to mind.

She continued, “He had such a difficult start in life, and he ended up with an unbelievable fairy tale conclusion.”

So Nick soon inquired about the dog, and the two agreed to meet.

Nick is now instructing his new best friend on how to respond to visual directions, which are comparable to sign language.
